Thanksgiving '10!

But first, a rare and ill-advised peek at the total decimation of our kitchen that happened when I made that pecan pie...

Jungle Gym Shenanigans

She insisted she was fine, but it was chilly enough outside that we ended up going straight from the park to the store, to get G some gloves!

Just a couple random pictures from a nice, sunny afternoon!

G and Chi

To get the full effect of this post, you need a small introduction to our cat, Chi.

I found Chi as a kitten, abandoned in a parking lot. I'd never planned on getting a cat -- I considered myself a dog person. But when a feral baby kitten uncharacteristically leaped into my arms and began chewing on my t-shirt in an attempt to suckle (a habit that persists, by the way), I was totally smitten.

The only catch is that kittens who are separated from the litter too early can be a little aggressive when it comes to playing. And I didn't realize that I should be training him not to swat with all his might at bare hands and feet.

Consequently, the best way to play with Chi and not sustain serious injury is to give him a paper bag to conceal himself in, and bait him with an elongated object that is not your own limb. Our current preference is a polar bear head on a stick that I bought during my last visit to the Toledo Zoo.

Chi enjoys play-fighting with the bear and destroying the paper bag, until he inevitably becomes bored and/or tired, and turns affectionate toward both.

Anyway, the reason I provide all that backstory is so you can see what G Bear was doing here. Chi mostly just runs away from G, and we've taught her consistently to never, ever provoke or bother him (or any cat). But she's allowed to "Help grown-ups play with Chi," and very much enjoys it.

But of course, when Chi got tired of playing, G Bear was very happy to take over his role in the game.

And shortly thereafter, wanted me to do the same.

(This is supposed to be a cat face.)

I only regret that we didn't get a shot of G wearing the bag on her head this way, because as soon as she put it on, she switched the game on us and professed to be a "baby robot."
