For some reason, a few nights ago, I started folding up cootie catchers, which are a simplistic, origami-inspired paper contraption that are popular with elementary school kids. I did this of my own accord, but of course when Gretje caught wind of it, she became VERY interested, and was totally undeterred by such precise folding and number/letter drawing that would ordinarily be considered above her paygrade. So we made some together and it turned out to be an awesome opportunity for her to practice drawing those pesky numbers.
(Um, I was in a bikini top because it was dang hot out.)
She also decided they needed to be "decorated" with glitter glue. Who was I to stop her? The girl just spent an hour practicing making numerals completely of her own volition!
Meanwhile, by the window....
...Chi remains unimpressed.
